BOUQUET of devotions — Tradition

Spiritual Bouquet a Traditional Catholic Practice

A card the giver will offer to a special loved one. In the form of a greeting card, the giver will promise to pray devotional prayers, such as one rosary just for the intention of the recipient; or two or three, etc. rosaries. The idea is that you will pray for what you write down.    BouquetOf

The recipient will appreciate the card if hand-made as will the giver having the opportunity of doing so.

When a child in Catholic school, I remember enjoying creating these unique greeting cards. Today you will find many elements for enhancing hand-made greeting cards. My guess is you already have the makings of a greeting card waiting. Remember the essential ingredient is your promise to pray.

Today is Fathers’ Day this idea of a Spiritual Bouquet would be an excellent gift for any father to receive from his child be it the child is 3 or 33 or whatever.

My apology to Carrot Ranch since this post is not fiction and over 99 words, but thank you so much for the inspiration of the prompt BOUQUET.

HELLO — The Month of June

Heart

The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. What an excellent time to begin a novena.
What is a novena some might ask? A novena (from Latin: Novem, “nine”) is an ancient tradition of devotional praying for nine successive days or weeks. During a novena, we implore favors for ourselves or others.
Members of the Roman Catholic Church most often pray novenas.
The prayers often derived from devotional prayer books, or consist of the recitation of the rosary (a “rosary novena”), or of short prayers through the day.

If you have been in need of something, try with confidence to offer prayers during the month of June in honor of His Sacred Heart, below is a suggested prayer, but any prayer to God is acceptable, especially one you might have composed yourself.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
filled with infinite love,
broken by my ingratitude,
pierced by my sins,
yet loving me still;
accept the consecration
that I make to You
of all that I am
and all that I have.
Take every faculty
of my soul and body
and draw me,
day by day,
nearer and nearer
to Your Sacred Heart,
and there,
as I can understand the lesson,
Teach me Your blessed ways. Amen.

O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, ask, and it will
be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be
opened to you.’ Behold, I knock, I seek and ask for the grace (mention your petition)
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you if you ask
anything of the Father in my name, He will give it to you.’
Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of ( ask your petition). Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, heaven and
earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.’
Encouraged by Your infallible words, I now ask for the grace (repeat your petition).
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have
compassion on the afflicted, pity us poor sinners
and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your tender mother and ours.

Silent SOUNDS Challenge by …

dVerse Haibun Monday

Last Sunday, May 27 was Trinity Sunday, a grand feast day in the Church, to honor the Blessed Trinity. Our priest told a little story which explained a little better how the Church teaches that the Son is begotten by the Father from eternity both are one and equal. That is the teaching of the Church.

The story our priest told was of a typical family a boy and his father. A father mocking his son’s belief in the Blessed Trinity. This father told his son that the father must come first in order to have the son, not equal. The little boy obviously inspired by God said, “no dad, you were never a father until you had me. You became my father the same exact time I became your son.”

Sharing a Silent Sound composed recently in honor of the Blessed Trinity creating my SILENT SOUND.
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost. Three in One, O Holy Ghost Spouse of Mary, of Whom Jesus was made incarnate. Holy Ghost Tongue of Fire enflamed with love bringing light to the world enlighten me, White Dove Paraclete to all, Sanctifier and guide. Intercede to Our Lady for extraordinary graces as we need them when we need them.

A Haiku  would sound like this

Three in One timeless
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Intercede for us

Patience! 1 of 12 Fruits from God

The following words from ~
The Imitation of Christ by Rev. Thomas A Kempis.
The Voice of Christ
What are you saying, My child? Think of My suffering and that of the saints, and cease complaining.

For the genuinely patient man does not consider from whom the suffering comes, whether from a superior, an equal, or an inferior. Whether from a good and holy person or a perverse and unworthy one; but no matter how great adversity befalls him, no matter how often it comes or from whom it comes, he accepts it gratefully from the hand of God, and counts it a significant gain. For with God nothing that is suffered for His sake, no matter how small, can pass without reward. Be prepared for the fight, then, if you wish to gain the victory. Without struggle, you can not obtain the crown of patience, and if you refuse to suffer, you are rejecting the crown. But if you desire to be crowned, fight manfully and bear up patiently. Without labor, there is no rest, and without fighting, no victory.

Patience is also one of the twelve fruits of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) namely Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Benignity, Goodness, Long-Suffering, Mildness, Faith, Modesty, Continency and Chastity.
Pray often: Please O Holy Ghost in Your Goodness please flood my loved ones with Your supernatural gifts and fruits that we will as a family be together for all eternity. Amen

BE CAREFUL TO CONJURE

To the wise; there is only one Ghost to conjure, and that is the Holy Ghost.
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost. Three in One, O Holy Ghost inflamed with Love bringing Light to the world enlighten me, White Dove, Paraclete to all, Sanctifier and Guide. Intercede to Our Lady for extraordinary graces as we need them when we need them.
Jesus had to leave. Ascending to The Father; making it possible YOU would come to the aid of His Apostles. Without Jesus in His Human Nature sharing their lives, Your gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord were so necessary for them to “go teach all nations.”
Today we who are trying so hard to persevere in the Faith. We need Your aid along with the supernatural gifts. Also, twelve fruits of Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Benignity, Goodness, Long-Suffering, Mildness, Faith, Modesty, Continency and Chastity.

Please O Holy Ghost in Your Goodness, flood my loved ones with Your supernatural gifts and fruits that we will as a family be together for all eternity. Amen.

Profuse as in THE BLOOD

Yesterday I was inspired to write a blog titled Realization vs Realize how appropriate it was to see the word prompt today for the word “profuse” this without planning on my part might be thought of as a continuation of my previous blog of yesterday.

My favorite devotion and of course immediately when I read the word prompt for today, I thought of the one prayer I daily repeat, “Blood of Christ, shed profusely in the Scourging.”
For those interested but are not acquainted with the Litany of the Precious Blood continue reading.   PointingAngel

This litany of prayers focuses on the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Precious Blood. The mini-prayer quoted above is only one of several aspirations contained. Aspiration in the sense of the word to mean a strong desire of hope.

“Blood of Christ shed profusely in the Scourging.”

We can look to 1 Peter 1:17-19 to see where this teaching is found recorded in the Bible. “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers: But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb unspotted and undefiled.”(1 Pet 1:17-19)
Haydock’s Catholic Bible Commentary, 1859 edition further explains. 1 Peter Chapter. (above)
“They could only hope for salvation by believing in Christ, by the price of whose Precious Blood they were redeemed from their sins, as they had heard by the word of the gospel preached to them.
Haydock’s commentary compliments are with that of St. Paul, of St. James, of St. John, and of the other apostles, that to be saved it is not enough to have faith or hope in Christ.”

The devotion to Jesus specifically in His most Precious Blood was first popularized by St. Gaspar del Bufalo (1786-1837, feast Dec. 28) who founded the Missioners of the Most Precious Blood.

An INSCRUTABLE TEACHING

“And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.”
[1 John 5:7]
“And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three are one.”
[1 John 5:8]
The Trinity, an inscrutable doctrine unique to Christianity.
Inscrutable because it is one of many mysteries of our faith, inexplicable.
No one can adequately explain this mystifying Doctrine, The Father, The Son and Holy Ghost yet; all three are one; except to say you can’t have one without the other.
One little analogy might be the Traditional Latin Mass of all times. Ponder on the definition of another mystifying term “Time,” think of the Mass as the past, present, and future for without it the world will end I fear.

Worship

Below is the text of the Nicene Creed the Profession of Faith which states the major truths of the Church, composed at the Council of Nicaea in 325. It was the answer to the Arian FALSE teaching that Christ was not divine.

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
The only-begotten Son of God.
Born of the Father before all ages.
God of God, Light of Light,
True God of true God.
Begotten not made,
Of one substance with the Father.
By Whom all things were made.
Who for us men and our salvation came down from the heaven.
And He became flesh by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary:
and was made man.
He was crucified for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried.
And on the third day, He rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and dead.
And of His kingdom, there will be no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord, and Giver of life,
Who proceeds from the Father, and the Son is adored and glorified
who spoke through the prophets. And one holy Catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. And I await the resurrection of the dead. And the life of the world to come. Amen

GETTING GOD’S ATTENTION

TRY THIS!

We all want God to answer our prayers so how can we get our prayers to the top of God’s “waiting” list?

Think today of the high power God has given us by our praying for souls throughout the world of people unknown to us, but known to God.

quoteB

God left us with a well of wealth, a well that never dries out. Deep within this well, we will find the infinite treasure of God’s merit just for the taking.  With this unending treasure, we must merely withdraw His merits from the well.

Have you ever begged God, praying daily!

It seems your prayers go unheard?  Try this!
God answers our prayers when we pray for others, especially when we pray for those who we dislike. We do not have to like each other, but we must love each other because Jesus died for all of us.

Let us begin today to ask God to hear the prayers of others, neighbors, associates and people we dislike. God will listen to your prayer for them and answer your petitions as well since He knows all things and knows our desires before we ask. Praying for others is how God answers us.

REMEMBERING

A long, long time ago when I was in kindergarten back in the middle 40’s, an excellent nun would have us recite this tender little prayer each day.  I still remember it!  childrenJesus hanging on the cross,
Tell me was it I?
There are great big teardrops, Lord,
Did I make you cry?
I have been a naughty child
Naughty as can be.
Now I am so sorry Lord;
Please come down to pardon me!

The Perfect Way

Worship

Is it wrong to enjoy a cup of coffee while praying or is it better to pray while drinking that coffee? Either way, praying is talking to God and the time is always right. “Pray without ceasing.” (1Thess 5;17) We adore God when we pray to Him.

When we pray the Mass, it is a perfect way to adore Him for heaven and earth will be joined together. It is one of those times just too beautiful, a mystery upon An Altar. The Mass prayed reverently is God’s will.

Did you know? There is this little book titled “My Mass Explained and Illustrated” by Confraternity of the Precious Blood, 1958. One can still find it on the Internet to purchase.

During the Mass, in the beginning, the Latin words “In Nomine Patris” express our belief in the Trinity. The words, “In the name,” show that there is one God. This little booklet reminds us also of the timeless unity of the Church. During the Kyrie Eleison, a cry for mercy is as old as mankind itself. As the Mass continues to move forward; the Missal is transferred by the server from the Epistle to the Gospel side of the altar to symbolize that the divine favor was taken away from the unfaithful Jews and given to the Gentiles.
Moving now to the Gospel side of the altar, the priest reads the word of God from the New Testament.

Along with the priest, we sign our forehead, lips, and heart, praying that we accept God’s word with our mind, lips, and heart.

Just a few mysteries to consider next time you are privileged to a pray again at the altar of God. Remembering always “And the Word was made Flesh and dwelt among us.”
